Troi Automatisering releases Troi File Plug-in 3.5 for FileMaker Pro 8.5

 

New Universal and cross platform plug-in runs natively in FileMaker Pro 8.5 and lets you manipulate your files and folders directly from your databases.

 

July 12th, 2006, Alphen aan den Rijn, The Netherlands--Troi Automatisering today announced the availability of Troi File Plug-in 3.5 for FileMaker Pro 8.5.

 

 

What is Troi File Plug-in?

 

Troi File Plug-in is a very powerful tool for getting access to information outside the FileMaker Pro database. Any files or folders stored on the computer can be accessed through the functions of the plug-in.

 

All from within FileMaker Pro you can:

- get data from files that are on the disk of the computer into FileMaker Pro

- create files anywhere on the hard disk and put data from FileMaker fields into them

- manipulate files and folders on the disk: this includes creating, deleting, copying, moving and modifying files and folders

- query detailed information of files: the size on disk, creation and modification dates and much more

- launch files with their appropriate application directly from FileMaker Pro

- NEW: write IPTC metadata to JPEG images!

Troi File Plug-in 3.5 adds these new functions and features:

- Made compatible with FileMaker Pro 8.5.

- (Mac OS X) Converted to Universal plug-in which runs natively on PowerPC and Intel Macs.

- Improved the TrFile_CopyFile function, it is faster and can now copy files bigger than 2 Gb.

- Added automatic conversion to FileMaker line-breaks upon text import.

- Added 3 functions to get the last access date/time/timestamp of a file.

- It is now possible to create any sized thumbnails of images files.

- Added TrFile_SetMetaData function, which can set the IPTC metadata in JPEG files!

The Troi File Plug-in allows you to:

 

 

- Batch import any text file, anywhere

- Let the user select a folder and process the contents of this folder

- Create a web site by exporting multiple HTML files

- Update solutions, by moving database files into place

- Read and write custom formatted files, for example from legacy systems

Troi File Plug-in 3.5 works with FileMaker Pro 7 , 8 and 8.5. The plug-in can also be used with runtimes from FileMaker Developer 7, FileMaker Advanced 8 or FileMaker Advanced 8.5. The plug-in is available for Mac OS X 10.3.9, Mac OS X 10.4.2 or higher and Windows 2000 (Service Pack 6) or Windows XP (Service Pack 2).

Product updates from earlier versions, bought on or after March 1st, 2005, are FREE: eligible users will be sent a new registration string. Contact us if you have not received yours after July 18th, 2006. Upgrades from licenses bought before March 1st, 2005, are available from US$ 19 per user.

Running plug-ins on FileMaker Pro 8.5 and Intel Macs

 

FileMaker Pro 8.5 for Mac OS X is a Universal Application and can run natively on PowerPC and Intel Macintoshes. However, when FileMaker is launched on Intel Macs, it only loads Universal plug-ins. It does not load PowerPC plug-ins. Therefore all plug-ins need to be converted to Universal plug-ins. Troi has already been preparing for these new Universal versions and we expect to release Universal versions of our other plug-ins soon.
